Bale Play in the Barn
February half-term
Big bales. Big barn. Big adventures.
Bale Play in the Barn is coming – and it’s going to be bigger and bouncier than ever!
For February half-term only, High Lodge Farm is clearing out the machinery and opening the doors to our brand-new barn, packed full of straw-filled fun for little adventurers.
If you loved our outdoor Big Bale Play, you’re going to love this cosy all-weather version. Imagine mountains of giant straw bales to climb, jump, scramble and conquer all safely tucked inside our shiny new shed.
There will also be a special Under-5s area for mini explorers, complete with small bales, a sandpit and ride-on toys. Our much-loved barrel train rides will also be touring the farm.
Grown-ups won’t miss out either. Enjoy a locally-roasted coffee, cakes, bakes and toasted sandwiches while the kids wear themselves out.
It’s the ultimate half-term day out. Come and play, whatever the weather!
FAQs
1. When are you opening?
Bale Play in the Barn will be running for 9 days, from February 14 - February 22 inclusive.
2. How do I book tickets?
Tickets will be on sale here from January. We strongly recommend booking in advance because we can’t guarantee entry on the day. Unlike our outdoor events, tickets will be extremely limited due to space.
3. How much are tickets?
Tickets are £7 per child and £2.50 per adult. Under 1s and carers (with proof) go free.
4. Is there a limit on play time?
You can book into one of three timed play sessions in advance. The three sessions are 9am - 11am, 11:30am - 1:30pm, 2pm - 4pm. We will remind visitors 10 minutes before the end of each session and we would appreciate a prompt exit so we can clean and tidy the area for our next visitors.
5. What if I am late for my session?
Don't worry if you're a bit late, just arrive when you can. You’ll be asked to leave at the end of your booked session though.
6. My plans have changed. Can I transfer my tickets to another day?
Yes. If you created an account when booking, you can log-in and move your tickets to another date, free of charge and subject to availability. Alternatively, email highlodgeevents@gmail.com at least 24 hours before your session and we will do our best to accommodate you - but this is not guaranteed. We cannot transfer tickets to another High Lodge event.
7. Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?
All tickets are non-refundable unless we’re forced to cancel the event.
8. Where is Bale Play in the Barn?
Bale Play in the Barn is located at OX14 3DX. It’s a different location to our usual events and access is via Thame Lane, Culham - NOT off the A415 where our events are usually held. Turn on to the High Lodge Farm track opposite the Europa School entrance and follow the signs to the barn.
9. Where do we park?
There’s plenty of free parking on the concrete area in front of the barn.
10. Are you running SEND sessions?
We hope to run some SEND sessions, but we haven’t finalised these yet.
11. Do you take cash and card?
Yes, we take both everywhere on site.
12. Are there toilets?
Yes, there will be Portaloos, including one accessible toilet with a baby changing table. Please note, we’re a working farm and facilities are basic and limited on site.
13. What food and drink will be available?
Hot and cold drinks, brownies, cakes and bakes. We’ll also be selling breakfast rolls, toasted sandwiches and chips. Please note, we will not be selling burgers and hot dogs at this event.
14. Can I bring a buggy into the barn?
Yes. We do not charge extra for buggies.
15. What footwear/clothing do children need?
Trainers and long trousers are a must. We do not recommend sandals and boots or dresses / shorts because itchy straw can irritate little legs. Please dress your children appropriately.
16. Can I bring my dog?
No. Only assistance dogs are allowed on site.
17. How much is the barrel train?
The barrel train is £3 per person. Anyone over the age of three can ride (including adults). Pay the driver by cash or card on the day.
18. Is the barn heated?
No, but it’s fully enclosed and with lots of children running round, it should feel relatively warm. We advise parents to bring coats though.
