High Lodge Farm is fortunate to have private access to the beautiful River Thames and Thames Path, which we’ve opened for the first time this year.
If you’re planning on arriving via the River Thames, please note that the campsite is located on a hill and the walk from the river takes approximately 20 minutes, including a fairly steep uphill section at the end. We’ve marked the route with signs from The Thames, but please bear in mind this walk if you’re arriving with boats/luggage.
If you’re walking to The Thames from our campsite, head to the brown gate at the View Point overlooking Abingdon and follow the blue pawprints signposted down the hill to the Thames Path. There are a couple of gates which require codes, which we send out in the Welcome Pack.
Once you've reached the Thames Path, you can enjoy peaceful riverside walks. Heading north, the historic market town of Abingdon is approximately 20–30 minutes' walk along the river. Here you'll find cafés, pubs, independent shops, Abbey Meadows, Waitrose, boat hire, and the Nag’s Head pub.

Matches, firelighters, marshmallows!
Flip/flops sliders are useful for the shower.

The Nag’s Head is the closest pub. It’s just under an hour’s walk along the Thames Path from the farm, or slightly less if you walk along the path alongside the A415 Abingdon Road. It serves great food, has it’s own private island overlooking the river with an outdoor pizza oven and bar. It also does excellent roasts.
-
The campsite is mostly open grassland. We recommend bringing a gazebo, awning or parasol during hot weather because the site is quite exposed.
